Acid Rain
BOOM! A clap of lightning hits the forest floor and shards of light scatter across the ground. Streaks of rain thump across the gleaming green grass. Humans take out their umbrellas and go for a walk, not knowing that the rain is acidic (a-sid-ik). Buildings get destroyed, animal’s habitats get destroyed. This deadly rain is destroying our earth. What can we do about it?
How Acid Rain is created
People burn gasses and oils, in homes and factories. The gasses and oils get pushed into the sky. The deadly chemicals (kem-a-kuls) mix with the clouds. And then when it needs to rain the rain is acidic.
Acidic chemicals
Acid rain is rain that has bad gasses and oils in it. The deadly chemicals make it so humans won’t get enough food to eat because the food will have too much acid in it. Homes will get destroyed some of our important structures will get destroyed because the acid will destroy the materials.
How acid rain can affect structures
According to Clean Air Kids, some of our extremely important buildings and statues etc... have been affected by acid rain. For example, the Statue of Liberty was affected by acid rain, the acid affected her materials that she was made out of. Acid rain can easily destroy softer stone. Which is terrible because homes will be destroyed, because the acid will destroy the materials.
How earth can be destroyed by acid rain
According to the scientist, Mrs. Lofstrand: acid rain will destroy some of Georgia’s habitats by eating the materials that go in the animal's habitats. If humans keep polluting there will no more humans, no more habitats, no more earth!
Doing your part/ conclusion
Acid rain is really bad for the environment, so here are ways you can stop it: use electric cars (electric cars don’t make as much air pollution as regular cars) , turn off lights when you leave the room, don’t burn fossil fuels when it’s not necessary. If you do your part, acid rain will stop and the earth will be saved.
